Home made Beeswax ointment – Nov ’14

Christina, my partner in all good things, suffers with eczema – in particular on her hands. Wishing to alleviate some of the symptoms, I came across the following recipe for beeswax ointment from the ‘readers’ ideas’ page of Permaculture magazine. I thought I would give it a go – it worked beautifully and, because the ingredients are so pure , was easy and quick to make.

You will need:

100g pure beeswax (I got mine at the Honeyshop.co.uk)

All ingredients

First weigh and melt the beeswax using a heat proof bowl in a pan of simmering water.

Next slowly add the olive oil (as it will cool the liquid wax be sure to add it slowly if you don’t want a big clump to form).

Melting the wax

Weigh and do the same with the coconut oil.

When the wax and both oils are completely liquefied, go ahead and add your drops of Propolis.

Adding the propolis

Give it a good stir and then pour into jars and allow to set.

And here is the finished result. I plan to make a few more of these as Christmas presents. The have a really fresh coconut scent and are packed with simple, organic ingredients. I reckon they come in at around 80p a jar so you can’t lose.

Finsihed cream
